Ever wonder if generic diapers work just as good as the big name brands? Well wonder no more. I tested out 9 different diapers to find out the answer!
Our contestants!
Pampers baby dry
Huggies
Huggies jean diapers
Huggies naturals.
Luvs
Cvs Brand
Rite Aid brand
Walmart brand (parents choice)
Target brand
All were tested over night to see which ones would leak and all were tested for a week or however long the pack lasted.
Pampers- One of the top brands of diapers. Not only are they great for diaper blow outs, but baby dry actually has a nice fresh powdery scent that I wish was bottled up into a perfume lol. Pampers held out great thru the night and had virtually no leaks thru the night! It's really no wonder they are such a top brand. They are def at the top of the list. Normally have seasame street prints =)
Huggies- Another top brand. I can say I like huggies..they aren't bad but they did tend to leak a little bit over night. Not as much as others tho but my little guy did have a little bit of dampness in the morning. Normally have pooh bear or micky mouse printeted on them =)
Huggies Jean diapers- Okay, yes, I did have to try these out. I mean how freaking cute are they?? Well to be honest the outside material is a bit thicker than a normal huggies diaper. Which is understandable since they are going with a denim print..and most parents will probably just put a t-shirt on with them..so being a bit thicker is fine. Now I have to admit, a lot of people thought these were just stupid. BUT I have to admit they held up GREAT. No leaks in the morning what-so-ever. They are a little more pricey than normal huggies..but I mean cmon..how much cuter can you get? They def hold up well and I would def buy them again.
Huggies Naturals- Going green but don't want to do the whole cloth diaper thing? Consider these. They are made of recycled materials and are actually pretty cute. Most of them have pooh bear on them with a cute little tree. But did they work? Somewhat. I used these on my son when he got a diaper rash from another brand. The rash went away but these diapers were def not recommended for over night use. There were def some leaks! I did like that they were on the green side, but I didnt like having to pull wet Pj's off my little guy.
Luvs- Ohh luvs. At one time you were a big name brand...but now you're found at places like big lots, roses, and other bargain stores. But, I decided to give them a try anyway. The first time my son peed in them they buldged out everywhere. He def looked like he had been sitting in a sagy diaper for hours when it had only been 30 minutes. But they didnt leak so I went ahead and gave them the night time test. They did leak a little bit, com[areable to the huggies. Not much, but a little bit which surprised me considering how much they bulged up earlier. I was actually kind of impressed with how they didn't leak. I was expecting my child to be soaked come morning but he wasn't. They normally have blue clues prints.
CVS Brand- Ahh our first generic contestant. Now, out of all the diapers I tested, these were def the cutest! Anyone recall that cartoon Caillou? (s/p) Well that's what printed on them sort of..they are covered with cute little jungle animals and such and were prettyy cute! But did they work? Amazingly, YES. Not only were they cute, but they didn't leak! I was actually very impressed by this considering I never wanted to put my kid in generic diapers. (Actually, I sent my husband to the store for diapers, and he came back with these generics on accident, instead of returning them I figured we'd try them out). So all in all I am actually happy with this brand. If pampers is sold out I have no problem reaching for CVS brand diapers instead!
Rite Aid- Our second Generic contestant! Now these ones are no where near as cute as the others (not that cute matters but hey if you have to look at a diaper sometimes you want them to be cute right?). These diapers are called "Tuggaboos". I wasn't that impressed with them honestly. They were def on the leaky side at night. They worked okay thru out the day ...if you were constantly changing about 12 diapers a day. Not that great if you had to go out and run errands for a few hours. I wouldn't recommend them.
Walmart (Parent's choice)- Out of all the diapers I've tested, I hated these the most. Not only did the tabs not stick on right..but they leaked everywhere. I tried making the tabs stick and it wouldnt work, making it easy for my child to pull them off and run around naked. They also leaked the worst out of all 9 types I tried out. I really was not impressed. I would not recommend.
Target- Our last contestant was a pleasant surprise. Not only are these diapers cute (green and blue polka dots) but they actually held up really well. They didnt leak much at all over night. They were a tad bit damp when I took them off but honestly it was not much at all. I am actually very impressed with Target generic diapers. I would use them again.
So in my experience Pampers, CVS brand, and Target brand were actually some of the best diapers I had used. Yupp 1 big name and 2 generic brands topped my charts followed closely by the huggies jean diapers, Luvs, and normal huggies.
Parent's choice and rite aid were def at the bottom of my list and the others were in the middle.
I hope this helped you out a bit if you were questioning the use of generics!
***Please keep one thing in mind tho. I have a boy. Some diapers work better for different genders due to the positioning of their parts.

Dove intesive repair conditioner.
So I got a free sample in the mail last week for Dove-Damage therapy intensive repair conditioner. I figured two small samples wouldn't be ebough for a review so I headed off to the store with the coupson I got with the free sample!
Well to be honest, I have very thick curly hair that has been pretty dry since winter time... not to mention it's been falling out. I also admit that my blow dryer and flat iron probably don't help even tho I rarely use either anymore.
Anywho the prduct says it will take care of the damage caused by styling, coloring, curling, primping, braiding, blow-drying, and straightening...but, does it work?
I have to say I was really hoping to give this product 5 stars.. but... it was a disappointment. In fact after using it I had a really hard time getting a brush thru my hair. It felt like it didnt even condition it. Now I will say I noticed a decrease in flakyness..but not much else. I can't say I'm a fan of this product, but maybe it will work better for thinner hair? Not sure... but you can always be like me and request a free sample and see how it works for you!
I give this product 2 starts out of 5.

Maybelline Colossal Volume Mascara
Product: Maybelline Colossal Mascara.
PriceL $6-$8
So we all know in mascara commercials the models are dazzled up with faux lashes and the products always say your lashes will be thicker, longer, etc etc etc. We all know that our lashes will never look like the commercial unless you buy a pack of falsies.
I tested out Maybellines Colossal mascara hoping I would finally find the perfect mascara and achieve those gorgeous lashes with out having to glue them to my eye lids. Did I? Maybe. I can honestly say, I really like this product. My lashes DID look a bit longer and thicker (of course, not like the commercial) but they did look good and they did look a lot more noticeable. Also the price isn't bad! I've tried my share of sephora and such and this is just as good, if not better, than some of the more expensive brands.
It's def worth checking out! I did take pictures of before and after, but due to the fact that my camera is missing, I will have to upload them later
I give this product a 4 stars out of 5.

As Seen on TV: Turbo Snake
Product: The Turbo Snake.
Price: $9.99
What comes in the box?: 1 large one, 1 small one, and some peel and stick hooks.
As the commercial says, "Have you tried taking a shower, and ended up taking a bath?"...Why yes, I have. I can thank my bio-dad for my thick hair, and I can thank the pregnancy and birth of my son for my hair falling out. My husband, who got frustrated one day when his shower turned into a bath, went off to the store and bought this item. (see! I'm not the only person addicted to As Seen on Tv stuff!)
Now, ladies, I would highly recommend letting your husbands, boyfriends, or significant others do this job. It really is as easy as it sounds...you pretty much thread the snake down the drain, twist it, and pull it up... beware of what comes up with it. It's actually pretty gross! =P The wire is pretty much just a long black wire with what looks like a mascara wand on the end. The mascara wand catches the hair (and whatever else) and pulls it back up with it.
All in all, this product actually works. It's not the prettiest thing in the world, but it does the job.
I give it a 5 out of 5 stars.

As Seen on TV: Ped Egg.
Product: Ped Egg
Price: $9.99
What's in the box? 1 ped egg, 1 file.
Got rough, dry, calloused feet? Why not try the ped egg? Basically, it's an egg shaped foot file that files the dead skin off your feet. It is also designed to hold all the "filings" in the egg so clean up is easy. It claims to only take off a small layer of dead skin with it's safe filer that wont even pop a balloon leaving your feet soft and pretty.
But, does it work?
Yes and no. Yes, after using it my feet felt and looked soft. It didn't hurt at all and the shavings sort of stayed inside the egg. But after a week or two...my feet looked worse than they did before I used the ped egg. Hard, cracked, and just all around icky. When I walk on carpet I can feel the fibers getting caught on my feet. The problem with this product is you can't use it just once. You have to continuously keep on using it and buying replacement blades. It can get pricey as the blades seem to dull after a couple uses. I also do not like the fact that my feet look worse than before after a week.
Would I recommend it? Not really. Splurge the $30 and go get a pedicure...atleast that way you not only get your feet softened, you also get to sit in those massaging chairs while soaking your feet in jacuzzi jets, you get a foot rub, then you get someone else to clip and paint your toes. If you need a friend to come with you, don't hesitate to call me!

As seen on Tv: Bump it.
Product: Bumpits.
Price: $9.99
What's in the box?: 3 bump its-1 large, 1 medium, 1 small. *Be sure to get the ones that match your hair color*
Ever want to look like you live on the Jersey Shore? Well, now you can! With the bumpit! Okay okay okay, the Jersey shore joke may have been a low blow. But I'm sure, ya'll forgive me.
Anywho the commercial makes it look pretty simple. Part your hair, insert bumpit.. maybe tease it a little and wah lah! But..is it really that easy? No. Unfortunately, it's not. Now don't get me wrong, I do think this product is pretty awesome. But I have naturally thick hair and I def had to do a bit of teasing first. I followed the directions, parted my hair, teased it a bit, inserted the bump it, then laid my hair over it. I then had to mess with my hair a bit to stay over the bumpit and not show the teeth. You will def need some hair spray.
The good part is, it will never go flat like teasing alone tends to do. I also like that they have 4 colors to choose from. Be sure to pick the color closest to yours. The only downside is, if you have thinner hair, this product may not work well for you or stay in place..you may need to do a LOT more teasing and use a lot more hairspray.
I would recommend it to people with medium-thick hair.
I give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

As seen on Tv: Strap Perfect
Product:Strap Perfect.
Price- $9.99-$19.99
What comes in the box?: 2 nude, 2 black, 2 clear strap perfect, and a small pack of strips of boob tape.
Ever have that bra strap battle? You know, the one where even if you tighten it you still seem to constantly be pulling or pushing your strap back up over your shoulder and tucking it back under your shirt? Well fear no more because the strap perfect may be the product for you.
Simply tuck your straps thru the little plastic piece and adjust it so that you dont see your bra. It's good for those racerback tops, shirts with odd cut straps, and dresses. It also does help with giving your chest a little umpf! I do like that you can adjust it up or down depending on the style of your shirt. And I do like that it comes in a few different colors. I did however, need help putting it on. Maybe I'm just not flexible as the woman on the commercial, but my husband was awesome enough to help me out.
All in all, it does work. It's a hard plastic so I don't see it breaking anytime soon and I do like the added umpf it gives you the girls. I am also pleased that I'm not battling the droopy strap at out door cookouts where I have to wear a tank top due to the heat.
I would def recommend this product.

As seen on Tv: Smooth Away.
Product: Smooth Away
Price: $9.99-$14.99
What comes in the box: 1 large pad holder, 4 smooth away pads, 1 small pad holder, 4 small pads, carrying case.
Knowing my love of testing as seen on Tv items, my husband surprised me one day by bringing me home a smooth away set. At the time, I hadn't shaved in a week so I was at the perfect time for testing it out. I took out the large pad holder and stuck one of the pads. Now, the ad says "Each Smooth Away Pad Is Covered With Superfine Crystals That Buff Away Unwanted Hair Leaving Your Skin So Soft & Incredibly Smooth."
I took out the directions and followed them to a T. Your supposed to rub clockwise, then counter clock wise or something... So I did... nothing... so I tried again...and again... nope. Still hair. I tested it out on my legs and arms... then I tried out the smaller one and tried it on my face and eye brows... nothing. Nothing seemed to work. I re-read the directions..and tried again.
All in all I still had hair. It didn't seem to remove any of it anywhere. I was disappointed but eh, oh well. You win some you lose some.
I give this product 0 out of 5 stars. I wouldn't recommend it.

As Seen On Tv:The Point N Paint.
Product: Point n Paint.
Price: $19.99
What's in the box?: 1 large point and paint holder, 2 large pads, 1 small point n paint holder, 2 smalls pads, and the no spill paint tray.
We recently be came homeowners. We walked into a house with walls that were...to say the least, not pretty. We had a bright blue bathroom and someone decided to use their hands to "paint" white clouds on the ceiling. We had hideous light house wall paper... we had faux-tile wall paper..and we walked into a light purple painted master bedroom.
So it seemed pretty obvious I just HAD to buy the point n paint, and test it out! Now, for those of ya'll who don't know what this is I will give you a run down. The point n paint is a pointy pad that is supposed to hold 5x more paint than a roller... it comes with its own little pan with a roller on it. You run the pad over the roller and it soaks up on to the pad. It's supposed to not only hold more paint, but also requires you to use no painters tape annnd allows you to paint a room in under an hour.
But... does it really work?
Well I DO have to admit, it DID make painting easier. It is much easier than a roller, and is faster than a paint brush. It was prone to drip tho, and it did get a bit messy. I still recommend using painters tape to tape off door ways and woodwork. The pads were a bit difficult to clean and dry out and after a couple uses they tended to start to shed, meaning I had to pick out pieces of pad out of my paint. Also, It still took over an hour to paint a room. It also took quite a few coats to cover despite what the commercial said about "less coats". After one room tho, I ended up having to toss the pads. If you order online your entitled to a "lifetime of refills" I however, got mine at walgreens, and refills were $9.99 if I'm not mistaken.
All in all, it wasn't a bad product. It was easier than rolling but it didn't stand up to a lot of the claims the commercial made. But like I said, it was easier than rolling, and I personally HATE rolling. The coverage wasn't bad, but you still needed plenty of coats. I would recommend this product to people who want to paint, but hate rollers. You will need a brush tho to cut in on trim because the small pads just don't cut it in my experience.
For the price I would expect a bit more out of it, but like I said, order online and get the free refills.
I give it a 3 out of 5 stars.
